Biography
Benager Hutson was born in 1799 or 1803 according to the US Census records of 1850 and 1860 in North Carolina's Sampson and Cumberland Counties, respectively. He is not to be confused with the Benager Hudson from Pitt County, NC, nor with the Civil War POW Benajah Hudson who married Dicey from Sampson County's Northern District. Despite changes in spelling and the movement of county lines around his family, Benager Hutson and his wife Sofia were constant.
