James Hutchinson Hutton was born on 4 August 1875 in Dunedin, New Zealand[1].
James married Mary Jane Campbell on 6 May 1907[2].
He died on 6 May 1937[3].
Both James and Mary were buried in the Halkett Presbyterian Churchyard, southwest of Christchurch.

Research Notes
James was brought up at Beaconsfield, South Canterbury, N.Z. and educated at Pareora West School from 14 March 1881 and later at Kingsdown School (briefly) in 1884. One record states that he left school to learn a trade on 3 Aug 1888 and another that he was re-enrolled at Pareora West on 21 Jan 1889. James passed Std 5 in October 1889. He learned the blacksmith trade from his father and was later employed at Port Chalmers, Otago and Kurow in the Waitaki District. He was residing in Christchurch at the time of his marriage in 1907.
Eventually he set up a business at West Melton where he remained for the rest of his life. For many years James was involved with the West Melton School Committee, Miniature Rifle Club, Horticultural Society and Weedons Cricket Club.
