Biography
Jacob Hutton, born in 1855 and died 1935, was born near Westfield, IL. Jacob married Harriett Elizabeth Giffin, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Giffin. He brought his bride to the farm just north of the Frank Jenkin's farm in Hutton Township. To this union four children were born: Jessie; Iva; William Howard; and Clifford, who died at the age of two years. When Jacob lost his wife in 1897, he had a difficult time keeping his family together until the children were old enough to make their own way. They managed with Jessie, the oldest daughter, in charge of the home and caring for the younger children. Source: Coles County, IL History 1876 - 1976, p. 686.
