Webster-12635 and Webster-4346 are not ready to be merged because: These two profiles appear to be the same person

I do not understand the comment you left on these profiles....if they are the same person, why did you set them as unmerged matches? Can you go back and explain your reasoning? Or perhaps you made an error?

posted by Robin Lee
Hi Robin,

I wonder if there's something wrong with a setting for unmerged matches. I proposed a merge for those two profiles and was shown a text box to leave a comment. The only thing I typed was "these two profiles appear to be the same person". The rest must have been created automatically. I've gone in to edit the comment & I'll see if I can find the other merges I proposed yesterday. They may also have the same weird message.

Hello Loralee,

I noticed that you used the Challenge Tracker to track a change during a recent Saturday Sourcing Sprint. Please consider officially joining us for the Saturday Sourcing Sprints. You can find information, including how to join, on the Sprints Help page.

No pressure, every profile with a source makes our WikiTree better. Your work will continue to be included in the Tracking Sheet's Unregistered total at the bottom of the help page if you do not register.

Your work is appreciated. Thanks for sourcing!

Alex - Sourcerer Sprint Co-facilitator

PS If the link does not work, you can find a working one in the public comment I left on your profile.

Hello, About 2 years ago, through DNA (male 1st cousin Y DNA111) I found my biological great great grandparent: Thomas Harbron 1857 Hamilton, Ohio - 1877 Hamilton, Ohio. His father was George born 1824 Durham, England - 1911 Hamilton, Ohio married Susannah Atkins. His father was George 1803 Caldwell, Yorkshire, England married Isabella Green, do not know his date of date of death. I feel as if I can connect with your Harbrons. I see familiar names I have seen in my research but have been unable to prove relation. I have been obsessed with finding all about this line because I searched for my biological family for over 30 years. Thank You, Mary Jo Sams. [email address removed]

Hi Loralee,

I sent you a message a while ago on behalf of the England Project Leaders and have not heard back from you. I hope you are well.

One of the requirements of membership in the England Project is that you respond to the six-monthly check-ins.

I have assumed that you are no longer participating in the England Project and removed you from our list of members. You are, of course, most welcome to re-apply to join the project at any time by signing-up on the project’s G2G welcome post.

Thank you for all your work on the England Project!

Best wishes, Amy

Hi Amy,

So sorry. I'm still here but had some big health crisis in my family in Nov/Dec this year that I needed to focus on, and my email got out of control.

In my downtime I've been working on building better profiles and adding as many free sources as I can to my own family tree. But I also spend a fair amount of time jumping into England Project challenges, like the one running this month (English Emigrants) and have been able to improve 8 profiles this weekend. I also love jumping into some of the data doctor categories or work on unsourced profiles. I often participate in weekend sourcing challenges.

I was working on OT1 but quickly became overwhelmed. It's been on the back shelf. And because of it I've been a bit embarrassed to show up in the Discord Group. But before that, I really enjoyed being in the group every day. The group was actually a big part of keeping me sane during the beginning of the covid lockdown. I've only sparingly used the Google Group. The first 2 times I responded to something in the group I received a snippy response back, so I tend to just read & not respond.

The issues/problems I have are exacerbated by my mental health, so I don't want think I can really make any significant recommendations for change. Except maybe, for people like me, a note about the discord group that says something like, "we haven't seen you for a while. that's okay, you can come back anytime." But really, it's my issue, not something you should need to manage.

Let me know what I need to do to rejoin?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

Hi Loralee,

We've not yet received a reply from you regarding the message we recently sent about the England Project. We hope you're okay! We realise that your interests may have moved on, however, and so of we don't hear from you by the end of December we'll presume that you wish to be removed from the Project. Of course, you'll be welcome to rejoin us at a later time if you wish :)

Regards, Amy, Lizzie & Joan.

Hi Loralee,

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around.

First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Amy, Joan & Lizzie.

Hi Loralee,

Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.

Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.

The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.

To find other potential relatives, continue adding sourced profiles for other lines until you can connect on all branches. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches that relate to the particular branches you are researching.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Hi Loralee,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The Norway Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See:https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources).

Thanks Virginia. I'm getting started on an orphaned profile with the guidance of the England team this week. I have a way to go on a lot of the profiles I've created on wikitree. I got started with my gedcom file & didn't have great sources. I'll get to most of them this month & tidy up my mistake :)

Thanks for the warm welcome. I had some trouble with the first GED file I imported. None of the dates were valid, so I did a second import. They're both still awaiting processing. Is there a way I can cancel one? Or just wait and ignore the wrong one?
