Biography

Samuel Hyde was probably born about 1610 in England. He gave a deposition in 1652 in which he stated that he was about 42 years old.[1]

Samuel Hyde married Temperance Unknown, probably in England, and they traveled to Massachusetts in 1639 on the ship Jonathan.[2][1] Samuel and Temperance had the following children:

Samuel Hyde died 12 sep 1689 in Newtown, Massachusetts.[8]

Research Notes

He embarked with his younger brother Jonathan HYDE (Hyde-1011) from London in the ship 'Jonathan' in Apr. 1639, arriving in Boston and settling in Cambridge Village (now Newton) about 1640. Purchased land with brother 1647; freeman May 2, 1649; Deacon. Will dated Jun. 10, 1689 and proved Oct. 1, 1689.[9]

A good deal of information about Samuel is in the profile of his brother Jonathan: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hyde-1011, such as: With his brother Jonathan, he bought 40 acres of land in 1647 from Thomas Danforth and 200 acres in 1652 from the heirs of Nathaniel Sparhawk. This land was held in common by the two brothers until 3 May 1661, when it was divided between them. (Middlesex Deeds, vol. 3, fo. 321.). When Samuel died in 1689, Jonathan was apparently overseer of the estate.

Hyde-1023 and Hyde-206 appear to represent the same person because: Same death date; about the same age.

Little evidence exists to indicate that Samuel Hyde is a child of Robert Hyde (Hyde-1224) and Alice Crompton (Crompton-217). For this reason, I will disconnect Samuel from these two individuals.
