Biography

Sidney (or Sydney) Hyman was born on 5 October 1899^[1] in Liverpool, Lancashire, England.^[2] He was the son of Russian- or Polish-born Jacob Hyman and Deborah Hyman (née Jones). The 1901 census recorded Sydney living with his parents, Jack and Dora, in Liverpool.^[3]

Sydney's mother died in 1908.^[4] At the time of the 1911 census, Sydney and his father and sister lived with his mother's parents, John Jones (63) and Sarah Jones (64). Sydney's father was a tailor and a shopkeeper; his nationality was described as "Russian Jew."^[5]

Sydney married Margaret Rees in 1929.^[6] At the time of the 1939 register, the couple lived at 48 Abacus Road, Liverpool. Sydney was a hosiery dealer and Margaret a ladies' hairdresser.^[1]

Sydney died in 1968 at the age of 68.^[7][8]
