Ethel was killed on 3rd May 1941 during an air raid in North Shields, Northumberland, England.Also killed were her husband John and 12 year old daughter Audrey. They were in the basement of Wilkinson's Lemonade Factory when the bomb hit and collapsed the ceiling above. Many people were killed by falling machinery. Over 120 people were killed that night, over 40 of them were children.
