Sigrid Teresia was born in Tryserum parish 27 April 1896. Her mother was unwed dairy worker Anna Kristina Häger. She is entered in the birth book with "father unknown"[1] - although she was later acknowledged by Melcher Björkström.
When Sigrid Teresia was a baby she lived with her mother in Fågelvik, Tryserum.[2] When Anna Kristina Häger found work up north in 1898, Sigrid was left in fosterage with Karl Fredrik Andersson and his wife Matilda Maria.[3][4]
When her parents had married and moved in to Klara parish in Stockholm together, in October 1901,[5] Sigrid Teresia Häger arrived from Tryserum to live with her parents.[6] However, when they moved to Nössemark in 1902, she did not go with them. Instead she was fostered with her father's elder sister, Thekla Adelina Björkström and her husband in Björkvik. Here it is noted in the household record that Sigrid is the daughter of Melcher. Her foster parents do not seem to have any children of their own.[7][8] Sigrid Teresia Björkström went to North America in October 1913.[9]
As can be seen on the passenger list (by also looking at the next page) she was going to stay with her uncle Carl André in Quincy, Massachusetts (married to the sister of her mother).[10] In 1919 she returned to Sweden for a brief stay with her parents - just 8 Sep to 20 Oct.[11] This time her arrival contact is her uncle Alfred Hager, also in Quincy, Massachusetts.[12]
In 1924 Sigrid Teresia Carson, born Björkström, made another brief visit with her parents (30 Jun to 8 Sep). This time she brought her son, Mats Emil Holger Carson. The notes say that she is the wife of the American Emil Alfred Carson, married 22 February 1921. There is a later note that she moved in to Oscar Fredrik parish in Göteborg in 1927 from Pennsylvania.[13] In that record she appears as Sigrid Teresia Karson (born Björkström) and brings her son David, born in 1926.[14] They lived in Örgryte.[15] Between 1936 and 1938 they lived in Lidagården, Östad.[16] In 1940 they were back in Göteborg.[17]
When Sigrid Teresia Carson was present at the estate inventory of her father in 1943, she lived in Stenkullen, Lerum. This record mentions that she is divorced from Emil Carson.[18]
At the time of the census 1950 Sigrid Teresia Carson lived at Lidagården, Sjövik, in Östad. She had been resident there since 1947, after being registered in Alingsås in 1946.[19] In the census 1960 she is in Herrljunga, where she has been registered since 1953.[20]
Sigrid Teresia Carson died in Herrljunga 12 March 1975.[21]
Sigrid came to Sweden 31 March 1924 with her son Mats. They did not register at the vicar's office until 30 June, presumably when Mats was hospitalized - he fell ill in the summer and died in October.[22][23]
