Biography

Martha Ide was born 18 Mar 1682/83 in Rehoboth, Plymouth, British Colonial America, daughter of Nicholas Ide Jr. and Mary (Perrin) Ormsby of Rehoboth[1]

On 8 Nov 1705 at Rehoboth she married (1) Zachariah Carpenter[2]

Known Children:

  1. Zachariah Carpenter (1706-1765) on 27 Nov 1728 m. Margaret Avery Child[3]
  2. Keziah Carpenter 1 Jul 1708- 17 Dec 1732 m. her cousin Jabez Carpenter on 9 May 1728
  3. Martha Carpenter -1727
  4. Abigail Carpenter 14 Nov 1714 - 1 Oct 1743 m. Peter Perrin on 12 Jun 1735
  5. Patience Carpenter 1718-

Zachariah died 8 Apr 1718 in Rehoboth.

On Mar 24,1718/9 at Rehoboth Mrs. Martha Carpenter married (2) Ephraim Carpenter[4] as his second wife

Children(by second marriage):

  1. Eliphalet Carpenter 1721-1801
  2. Hannah Carpenter 1723-1747
  3. Josiah Carpenter 1723-1723

It is alleged that she married, third, as his third wife, on Dec 8,1748, Peter Walker of Rehoboth but no primary source has been found to verify marriage to Peter Walker. Peter Walker of Rehoboth was married to Martha Read at the time that the alleged marriage to Martha (Ide) Carpenter took place so this appears to be a false story.

Burial[5]: Newman Cemetery; East Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. Date of Death is shown as 22 Aug 1756 on Findagrave but no primary source was found
