Walter Owen Idriess was born before 1868 in Wales. He was a son of Alfred Owen Idriess and Mathilda unknown. Note: the surname, Idriess, may have been Owen-Idriess as it has sometimes been listed, however Walter certainly didn't continue that tradition; we are therefore using the hyphen-less name of Idriess.

Walter worked as a sheriff.
