Biography

Clifford was born in 1920 in North Dakota. He was the son of Herman Iken and Katie Thibadeau.

Military Service WW II

He enlisted for military service on 1 April 1941 at Fargo, North Dakota. His civilian occupation was listed as: "Semiskilled chauffeurs and drivers, bus, taxi, truck, and tractor."

He was serving as a Corporal in the U.S. Army, 376th Field Artillery Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, in the area of the Mediterranean Sea, when he was declared Missing In Action in 1943.

He was never found and his death was declared on July 1, 1943. He is commemorated at the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery in Nettuno, Italy. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
