Kitty was born about 1781 the daughter of John and Hannah ILLIDGE (nee BAILEY). She was baptised on the 17 April 1782 in St Giles, Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire, England.
When their father died in 1805, all of his personal estate and effects were divided into two equal shares. One half went to his son, William, because of "his very dutiful and disinterested attention to my welfare". The other half was shared equally between his children - Thomas, George, John, Joseph and Kitty. His total estate was sworn to be under £300.
On the 28 July 1805, shortly after the death of her father, she married Humphrey RATCLIFF at Norton in the Moors.[1] Humphrey been born in Stoke, Staffordshire and baptised there on the 13 May 1779, the son of Humphrey and Ellen RATLIFF. Humphrey junior was a china manufacturer and potter at Stoke upon Trent.
Over a period of time the following children were born to them: Ellen born 21 October 1805, Sophia born 6 October 1808, George born 15 August 1810, Elizabeth born 16 April 1812, Ann born c.1816, Richard, Hannah Bailey born c.1820, Thomas Bailey born c.1822, Frederick George Illidge born c.1825.
After their marriage the settled in Newcastle under Lyme.
When their son George in 1810 was born the family was living in Cardiff, Wales. The family was back in Staffordshire by the time Ann was born about 1816.
By 1839 the family was living in Stoke Lane, Stoke upon Trent. Humphrey owned property in that lane which meant he was eligible to vote in the Pirehill North electoral district.
When her brother, John, died in 1846 she received an annuity of £40 from his will and each of her children received £50.
Kitty died on the 2 February 1848 at Stoke upon Trent.
When the 1851 census was taken Humphrey was living with his son Thomas, who was a Tailor, at Stoke Lane, Stoke upon Trent.
He died at Stoke upon Trent in 1853.[2]
