HI Keith. Interesting. I am a Brit. so its part of our history. My g-g-grandfather was William Bent Private soldier of the 41st Regt. of Foot that held the line in Ontario, part of the garrison of Gen. Brock 1812 - 1814. This was a surprise invasion from the former colony of ours South of Niagara falls that was gallantly defended by my ancestor. During these engagements he was wounded 4 times, once whilst raising our victory flag! The 41st Regt. retired later and took part in the garrison of Paris post Waterloo and then sent to Ireland. William was pensioned off at Chatham Kent in 1822 and died and buried by his military colleagues in Mansfield. Those of the regiment including William who were still living in 1848 received from Queen Victoria the '1st Soldier's Medal' ie 1773 Military Ge
