Jean-Baptiste was born in 1845, the son of Jean-Baptiste Imbault Matha and Josephte Charon.
He first married Olivine Charron, daughter of Vincent Charron and Olivine Lalande, at St-Sauveur in 1867. His name was given as Imbault dit Manta. Olivine died in 1876 at the age of twenty seven years, and was buried at St-Sauveur.
His next marriage was to Philomene Desnoyer at Ste-Agathe-des-Monts on 13 September 1880[1]. In this record his name was written as Mantha.
At the 1891 census they were using the name Imbault and living in the Sainte Agathe sub-district of Terrebonne with nine children[2].
Jean-Baptiste probably died in 1930[3].
