Biography

Phineas Ingalls was born on 14 November 1758 in Andover, Massachusetts. His parents were Francis and Eunice Ingalls[1].

Phineas relocated to Bridgton, Maine, around 1781. He was a prominent citizen of the town, serving as the first town treasurer and the first representative of Bridgton to be sent to the General Court in Massachusetts. He was chosen to attend the Maine constitutional convention in 1819 and served as a representative from Bridgton in the first Maine state legislature[2].

He married Elizabeth Stevens on 13 October 1783 in Fryeburg, Maine[3]. They had nine children[4]:

7. Cynthia, born 4 Jun 1800; married Ichabod Warren
8. Tabitha, born 15 Jan 1803; married Hugh Bennett
9. Almira, born 14 Dec 1806; married Nathaniel Potter

Phineas passed away on 5 January 1844 and is buried in South Bridgton Cemetery[5].
