Revolutionary Soldier
Jonathan Ingalls was born in Andover, MA, December 4, 1753, the son of Deacon Joseph and Eunice Ingalls. Jonathan married 1st, August 8, 1782, Deborah Sherwin, the daughter of Jonathan and Mary (Crombie) Sherwin. Mary died leaving three children, August 1, 1790. Jonathan married 2nd, January 21, 1794, Zipporah Barker, the daughter of Barnabas and Mary (Neal) of Scituate, MA.
In the Revolution Jonathan was a signatory of the "Association Test" in Rindge and he was in Col. Nahum Baldwin's Regiment in 1776, he was in Col. Samuel Ashley's Regiment in 1777. Jonathan was active in municipal affairs as well, he was town clerk in 1784 and selectman in 1783, 1784 and 1795. He died May 11, 1836, aged 83 years.[1]
