"Richard Ingelo: He witnessed the wills of Isaac Ingram and William Wade, both executed aboard the Welcome, and served for a time as secretary of Pennsylvania [Colonial Records 1:81]. The Historical Society of Pennsylvania has a letter of Ingelo dated 19 7th mo. 1686 in which he complains of not having been paid by Pennsylvania. He is shown on Holme's map as owner of two adjacent tracts, one in Bucks and the other in present Montgomery County. By 28 11th mo. 1686 he had returned to England, for Penn then wrote from Worminghurst: "I hear by R. Ingelo thou takest great care and pains about my husbandry." Ingelo was a son clergyman, Nathaniel Ingelo (1621 - 1683), buried at Eaton Chapel August 1683, on whom see Dict. of Nat. Biogr. 28 : 433. Richard's will is dated 9 May 1695, mentions sister Elizabeth Ingelo who afterwards married John Gibb of Bristol, clerk."
