Stanley Ingold was a Prisoner of War during World War II.
Roll of Honor
Stanley Ingold died as a prisoner of war on the Montevideo Maru during the Second World War.

Stanley was born in 1921 in Brisbane, QLD, the son of Arthur Jasper Ingold and Margaret Wightman Plastow.

He enlisted in the Australian Army Militia at Albion, QLD on 02 Jun 1940 as a Private (Q99998). At the time he was single, a junior clerk and was living with his father in Hendra, QLD. he had brown hair and grey-brown eyes.

He was called up for full time duty in the 8 Military District Headquarters on 20 Sep 1941.

He embarked on HMAT "Macdhui" from Brisbane on 27 Sep 1941 for Rabaul, New Britain in the Territory of New Guinea, disembarking there on 08 Oct 1941.

After the Japanese invasion of 23 Jan 1942, he was captured at Neinduk and became a Prisoner of War, initially held at Rabaul.

He died on board the "Montevideo Maru" when it was torpedoed and sunk off the coast of the Philippines on 01 Jul 1942, en route from Rabaul to Hainan where he was destined for forced labour.

He was posthumously enrolled in the 2nd AIF as QX64931.
