"John lawful son to Alexander Ingram and Janet Chalmers his spouse in Coxton was baptised before witnesses Robert Shaw & John Ingram". The witness John Ingram was probably Alexander's cousin, son of Patrick - this John and Alexander were the same age, so may well have been close.
Memorial Stone:
"Alsoherson John Ingram, farmer, Coxton, who died 14th April 1859, aged 88 years [2 drs. re-corded dead.] Also his wife Janet Green, who died on the 14th February 1871, in her 78th year. Keraembcr, man, as thou goest by, As thou art now, so once was I." (sic)
