Alice was born 25 January 1859, the daughter of a farmer, Clisson Parkinson Inkley. Alice was under 21 when she married Henry William Bennett, on 30 October 1878 at her birthplace Surfleet. [m.cert] Witnesses were Rose Elizabeth Bennett, Clisson Parkinson Inkley jr., Clison Parkinson Inkley and Annie Parkinson Inkley. In his will dated 23 March 1904 Henry William Bennett of Grantham butcher left his capital, house furniture, stock in trade and livestock to his wife and nine children, and first chance in the business to his eldest son Harry.His wife Alice and son George were the executors. The youngest of the children was only ten when he died. Alice had Sunningdale Private and Residential Hotel in partnership with her daughter Evelyn M Lowe at 11 South Promenade, St.Annes-on-sea. Alice and Kate had a shop in Lytham, St.Annes in early to mid 1930s for five years, selling haberdashery, arranged for them by Gus. [Helen Alquist] She lived with her son Gus until the war, when she moved in with Evelyn at Cheater. After some months she moved in with Evelyn at 20 Elmfield Road, Stockport, Lancs. Alice, formerly of 15A St.David’s Road South, St.Annes-on-sea, died on 20 December 1947 aged 88, and left a will dated 15 January 1935. A native of Gosberton Cheal, near Spalding, Mrs Bennett regularly attended Finkin street Methodist Church. She was survived by five daughtersand four sons. One of the daughters, Mrs Phyllis Wentzall is in British Columbia, and the fourth sn Harry is in Canada. Mourners included Mr and Mrs G Bennett, Peterborough, Mr H Bennett, Grantham and Mr and Mcs C Bennett, Davenport, sons and daughters-in-law, Miss K Bennett and Mrs E Lowe, Davenport, daughters, Mr and Mrs Barker, Chester, Mr and Mrs Chamberlain, Nottingham, sons-in-law and daughters.
