Biography

Elkanah (pronounced el-káy-nee), was the youngest son born to James Inman and Martha Wilson-Inman. He married Sarah Moore in Tennessee and they had nine children together. They would move to Missouri in 1852. Although primarily a tobacco farmer, Elkanah originally worked as a renter in Porter Township, Christian (then Greene) County, Missouri. The burial site of Elkanah and Sarah Inman is unknown. It is believed that they are likely buried in a family plot on their son John Wesley Inman's farm. However, while a family burying ground did exist on John Wesley's farm; relatives only remember infants being interred there.
