Biography

Dorothy (Inman) Blomfield was born in Ilkley, Yorkshire, England.

Dora was born in Ilkley, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, on July 22, 1886. ^[1] She was the daughter of William Inman and Sarah Brayshaw. She was enumerated in the 1891 census ^[2] as a four year old residing with her parents and nine siblings at 7 Garden Street, Keighley. Her father passed away in 1895, her mother in 1898. Dorothy appeared in the 1901 census ^[3] residing in the household of uncle Fred Holroyd and family at 32 Kaye Street, Bradford. She was fourteen and a "Worsted Spinner". Sisters Mary Hannah, Ethel, Florence, and Beatrice also at residence. In 1911, ^[4] Dorothy and sisters Mary Hannah, Florence, Beatrice, and Clara were living in the household of sister Margaret King and family at 8 Fernter Street, Shipley. She was twenty three, single, and a "Tapestry Weaver".

Dorothy married Bertram Blomfield in 1911.^[5] The Banns had been read on November 26, December 3, and 10, at St Margaret Frizinghall (Bradford). ^[6] The couple would have at least two children, Stella, in 1913, and Sylvester in 1918. Dorothy and Bertram appeared in the 1939 Register ^[7] residing at 17 Mortimer Street, Bradford. Dorothy's occupation "Unpaid Domestic Duties". (Note...one redacted entry at address).

Dorothy passed away in 1970. ^[8] Her death was registered in the third quarter in Bradford. She was eighty four.
