William was born to Major John Innes and Margaret Liddell in 1806^[1]

He died at Brighton 25th August 1872, in his 67th year. ^[2] This same gravestone gives his wife as "JEMIMA REBECCA HAMILTON, spouse of Lieut.-Colonel W. Innes, H.E.I.C.S., who died June 28th, 1842, aged 21"
