Andrew John Stow Innes, son of Robert Francis Innes, was born in Jamaica, schooled in England, settled in Canada 1973.
He began his career as a chartered accountant and ended it as a painter and multi-media artist in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. He paints for the sheer joy and challenge of it. In his own words, his paintings reflect, “an on-going attempt to distinguish the essential from the decorative and to discern the rhythms, patterns and geometry in nature. Before turning to painting full-time, he was a partner of Clarkson Gordon, now Ernst & Young, and a Senior Vice-president of National Trust in Toronto. He married Donald William Watson of Toronto, Canada. In 2013, Andrew and Don were the first gay couple whose civil marriage was blessed by the Bishop of Ontario.
