Biography

John (Innes) Innes Younger then VIth of Edingight is a member of Clan Innes.

John Innes was born about 1664

John Innes married Helen Strachan in 1691. Although his father was still alive, as part of his Marriage Contract with Helen, John was made infeft in Edingight estate by his father, thus making him the 6th Laird of Edingight. However somewhat unusually, John 5th Laird remained in occupation of the estate after 1691, thereby causing confusion for future writers.

He passed away before around June 1719 and therefore predeceased his father.

Research Notes

• This John Innes predeceased his father so ordinarily would not inherit Edingight. His son John is named as the Sixth of Edingight in The Thanage of Fermartyn. John, Sixth of Edingight had consent from his grandfather in 1720, to marry Jane Duff. This reference is however incorrect. As part of his Marriage Contract, John was made Laird of Edingight so his son should actually be the 7th Laird.
