JAMES M. INNES DIED FRIDAY AT HOME HERE
Death Comes Suddenly To Prominent Howard Countian--Funeral Sunday Afternoon
James McDonald Innes, prominent farmer and stockman of Fayette, died at his home at the north edge of town about noon Friday. Although he had been in failing health for a number of months, Mr. Innes died suddenly. He had passed his sixty-fifth birthday anniversary just two days before his death.
Mr. Innes was born in Howard County southeast of Fayette July 26, 1874. He was the son of the late John and Grace (Nellie) Grant of Scotland who were early settlers in this county.
On February 21, 1900, he was married to Mattie F. Young and to this union was born two children. One daughter, Nina Belle, died in infancy and the other daughter, Louise, is now Mrs.
George P. Adams of Mexico.
Surviving are his wife and daughter; a grandson George Rogers Adams; two brothers, A.T. Innes and C.P. Innes both of Fayette; and two sisters, Mrs. George L. Todd and Mrs. James B. Swinney of Fayette.
Mr. Innes united with the Methodist Church in early life and served for some time as a steward in that church. He was a man of honesty and integrity and was highly esteemed by his associates. For many years he engaged in farming and dealt in livestock. He spent his entire life in Howard and Boone Counties. The greater part of his life he lived in and near Fayette, but for a time he lived at Woodlandville in Boone County.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in this city Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. C.B. Galatas. Burial was in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
