Biography

On October 7, 1688, Jedediah was born in Little Compton, Bristol, Plymouth Colony, the son of John Irish and Elizabeth Thurston.

Based upon the birth date of his first child, it is estimated that he married Mary (last name unknown) in late 1710 or early 1711. Mary was a Quaker.

Born at Rhode Island:

  1. Jedediah, born November 16, 1711; died prior to January 18, 1797, in Beekman, Dutchess County, New York. Will proved January 18, 1797.
  2. Mary, born January 22, 1714; married John Robinson on August 23, 1733.
  3. Elizabeth, born November 3, 1715; married Caleb Foster on September 24, 1735.
  4. Sarah, born in 1716; married Zebulon Hoxie at North Kingston, Rhode Island; died on July 5, 1803, in Oswego, Dutchess County, New York
  5. Lydia, born November 6, 1718; married Elisha Lewis on October 30, 1740.
  6. John J., born June 9, 1720; died about 1801 in Stonington, Connecticut. Will dated May 29, 1799, and recorded June 23, 1801.
  7. Thankful, born August 24, 1722, in South Kingston, Rhode Island.
  8. Joseph, born April 20, 1724
  9. George, born in 1729; died on October 11, 1801, in Middletown, Rhode Island
  10. Job, born in 1733 at Westerly, Rhode Island; married Mary Weaver on May 3, 1753; died in 1774 at Stonington, Connecticut. Job was a Quaker minister.
  11. Hannah, unknown birth date

Jebediah Irish was listed as son of Content Irish who was younger than him. That appears to be an error so I replaced the Content with her mother as mother of Jebediah as the only logical choice.
