Biography

Sarah (Ironmonger) Burnett was born in Hoo St Werburgh, Kent, England.

Sarah Ann Ironmonger was born on 27 Mar 1823 in Hoo St Werburgh, Kent, England to parents Thomas Ironmonger and Hannah Gutridge. She was christened on 4 May 1823 in Hoo St Werburgh, Kent, England. ^[1]

She married Richard Burnett as his second wife on 6 Oct 1838 in Stoke, Kent, England. ^[2]

Three years later in 1841 Richard immigrated to New Zealand on the ship Whitby being one of Nelson's early settlers. Sarah followed in 1841 with Richard's two children Harriet and George on the ship Lloyds. George died on the voyage out to New Zealand. Sarah's first child, Richard Atlantic, was born on the voyage and died one month later on board ship.

Children: Richard Atlantic, John Edward, Ann Elizabeth, Catherine Mary, ^[3] Alice Hannah, Elizabeth Frances, Thomas Roache, Elijah Robert, Emily Sophia, Clara Jane, ^[4] Agnes Martha,^[5] Emma Eliza. ^[6]
