Biography

Ann (Ironside) Mabey was born in Dorset, England.

Ann was christened at Upwey, Dorset, England on the 23rd of January 1859. Her parents were named as John James & Ann ^[1] but by 1861 she was shown as the daughter of William & Ann. ^[2] (See Research Notes).

Variant spelling: Ironsides.

I think the OPC entry must be mis-transcribed because John James Ironside & Ann christened another child, Thomas George in May 1858. It's possible he was christened some time after he was born but if not, it is very unlikely this couple had 2 children in such a short space of time. Also, Thomas appears in the 1871 census in the household of John J & Ann; if Ann was their daughter, why would she not be living in that household? William was named as her father when she married.
