William C. "Bill" Irvin (1923 - 2012) Published in Florida Today

William (Bill) C. Irvin, born May 25, 1923 in Minisink Hills, Pennsylvania, died in the home of his son, Paul B. Irvin, in Winter Park, on June 1, 2012.

He was a 1953 graduate of the University of Miami Law School and served in the armed forces during World War II.

Prior to his last illness, he had been a resident at Winter Park Towers for the past two years. Before that time he resided in North Georgia where he had retired after leaving Cocoa Beach.

Bill Irvin moved with his family to Cocoa Beach in 1956 and was the second attorney to open a practice in that city. During his many years in Cocoa Beach he was active in City affairs and in civic concerns.

Among his many accomplishments were the following: Founding member of Bethany Bible Chapel by the Sea in South Patrick Shores. Past President and member of the Brevard County Bar Association. Founding Member and the Charter President of the Cocoa Beach Rotary Club. Where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. Founding Member of Cape Canaveral Hospital. Attorney for and Past President of the Cape Canaveral Hospital Board of Directors. Former City Attorney of Cocoa Beach and rewrote the City charter changing to a City Manager form of Government. Former City Commissioner and and Mayor Pro Tem where he was instrumental in establishment of the City Golf Course and Recreational Complex. Solo Private Practitioner of law in Real Estate, family and Corporation law. He was an honored fifty year member of the State Bar of Florida. Member of the Cocoa Beach Chamber of Commerce. Developer of River Falls Estates and Wavecrest Condo and numerous other properties in Brevard County.

He was the loving husband of Jane Bryant Irvin (deceased 2003) for 57 years and is survived by four children, Gail Cox of Commerce, Georgia and husband, John, Cynthia Goodall of Orillia, Ontario, Canada and husband, Eric, Bill Irvin of Dahlonega, Georgia, Paul Irvin of Winter Park and wife, Rebecca; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; also survived by his brother, J. Paul Irvin of Cape Canaveral; and sister, Florence Moore of Stoneybrook, New York; along with numerous nephew and nieces.
