Biography

James was born in 1938. He died in 2013 at the age of 75.

Parents: Paul Robert Irvin 1914 - 1991 and Hazel Inez (Horton) Irvin 1917 - 2009.

Spouse: Linda Jean (Alverson) Irvin 1940 - 2013. They were married 11/26/1960 in Maplewood, Missouri.

In 1956, James graduated from Wardell High School. He received a scholarship to attend the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri (Mizzou) where he graduated with a Bachelors of Agriculture. While at Mizzou, he was very active in the Baptist Student Union. He then went on to get a Masters degree from the University of Indiana before returning to Mizzou to get a PhD in Counseling Psychology in 1970. He served at the University of Missouri for several years as the Director of Counseling Services, Professor of Health Professions, Interim Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Director of Alumni Services. Upon retirement, he owned and worked at HUT Products in Millersburg with his wife, Linda & their son, David.
