Robert died of denenerative heart disease, chronic bronchitis and senility in Harelock Street Hawick in 1928. His parents were reported to be Robert Irving a wool hand loom weaver and Jane Blake. His death was reported by his son, Robert Irving of 53 Oliver Park Harwick.
