George Irving's death (age 18) was registered in 1871 in the Annan district.[1]

Newspaper report--
August 24th 1871 Southern Reporter On Friday afternoon, George Irving, aged eighteen years, son of Richard Irving, seedsman and nurseryman, Annan, went to bathe in the Solway near Seafield, being accompanied by two boys. Irving, who could not swim, got beyond his depth. The boys could render him no aid, and before assistance arrived he sank and was drowned. The body was found when the tide ebbed near to the spot where the casualty occurred. [2]
