"WE ARE (TWENTY) SEVEN

Mr Henry Nelms, an inhabitant of Towersey, a Buckinghamshire village west of Princes Risborought, is now the proud parent of twenty-seven children. His first wife was the mother of twelve; to the second were born fifteen, she having had already a family of three. Twenty-seven are still living out of the full number of thirty, Mr. Nelms having been presented with his twenty-seventh child last week."

"If everybody got on as well as we do nobody would ever quarrel", said Mrs Nelms, the second wife of Mr. Henry Nelms of Towersey, Bucks. Mr Nelms has had 12 childred by his first wife and 18 by his second wife.

Seven of the 30 children are married, and 16 are living at home with their parents

Two of the three boys who served in the war were killed. One child died at birth, leaving 27 still alive.
