Isom was born about 1930. He is the son of Isom Ison and Bessie Barker.

Isom T. Ison Jr., 84, of Sandy Hook, KY, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018, at his home. Mr. Ison was born April 20, 1933, in Elliott County, the son of the late Isom T. and Bessie Susan Barker Ison Sr. He was also preceded in death by a son, John D. Ison; and brothers and sisters, Andrew Jack Ison, John D. Ison, Opal Johnson, Mary Lewis, Alma Edwards and Sarah Ison. Mr. Ison was an Army veteran that served on active duty from 1953 to 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1961. He was retired from General Motors in Dayton, OH. He is survived by his son, Ronald D. and wife, Melanie Ison, of Sandy Hook; a daughter, Rhonda Lee Ison of Sandy Hook; two grandchildren, Jacob L. and wife, Bennett Ison, of West Liberty, KY, and Jared T. Ison of Sandy Hook; a great-grandson, Kalan Matthew Ison; a brother, William Ison of Florida; and two sisters, Hannah Porter and Janet Salyers both of Elliott County.
