Cause: in his own bed, attended to by his wife Helen
Date: 5 MAR 1978
Place: Petroleum County, MT
Note: He had developed prostate cancer which moved quickly into his bones. He was bedridden for several months prior to his death. He insisted on getting a hospital bed and having it put in the living room so that he could look out the large picture windows and see what he could of ranch activity and people coming and going out on the road and down the tree-lined lane to the house.
Note
Note: Andrew was a hard working, quiet, but fun-loving person. His education did not extend beyond high school, but the knowledge he gained was by experience, first on his father's family farm and then following his marriage, by attempting several different trades. In 1943 he had saved enough money to put a downpayment on the former Hall Clement place, which would later be known as Sky Hook Ranch. He and Helen had been living in Western Montana and had some livestock which went by rail and then truck to the new ranch site. There was a log cabin there which had originally been used by Clement and which would become the Iverson family home until a new one could be built. Andrew and some of his family members (Isaac Iverson and Bus Cook) would eventually build a new home nearby that was two stories, and had an opening for an elevator. The elevator was not installed before the home burned in 1959. Again the log cabin was employed as a temporary residence and a new home began to be built which was never truly completed, but was quite roomy and comfortable. Andrew not only had his farming skills in place, but became an accomplished carpenter.
