Biography

Jane Ives, 1812 New York - 1893, was the daughter of Daniel Ives and Mercie Osborn, who married in 1817, and had five children. Jane married Cephas B. Hubbard on 22 May 1834 in Windham, Greene, New York. They had seven children. She died in 1893. ^[1] NOTE: this collection contains records that mention Jane as the mother of two of her children’s death records (for Emilie and for Henry H.).

In 1880, the Hubbard family lived on their farm in Bedford, Calhoun, Michigan. The household included B. Cephas Hubbard, 69, born in New York (parents b. Connecticut), a farmer; Jane Hubbard, his wife, 68, b. New York (parents b. Connecticut); Emily Hubbard, Daughter, 26, b.Michigan, a school teacher; and James Goodhale, 23, b. Michigan, who worked on the farm ^[5]

Jane Ives was born in 1812. She married Deacon Cephas B. Hubbard. They had at least five children. Jane died in her Battle Creek, Michigan home, aged 81, in May 1893. She is buried with her husband Cephas in Oak Hill Cemetery, Battle Creek, Calhoun, Michigan. Jane had been a resident of Calhoun County, Michigan since 1842 (over 50 years). She was survived by four children: Henry H., and Mrs. Mary Sherman, both of Battle Creek; Daniel J., and Mrs. T.B. Simons (Emilie), both of Chicago (citing obit). Three of her children, Henry Hudson, Mary J., and Harriet L., and other family are buried at the same cemetery. ^[6]
