Tiny was born in 1920,[1] the sixth of 13 children to Osmer Elrod Ivey Sr[2] and Carrie Smith Greene.[3][4][5] His siblings were: Julian Elrod,[6] Roberta, Edna Mae, Malcolm Eugene Sr,[7] William Allison Sr,[8] Mary Evelyn, Osmer Elrod Jr,[9] Sara Drucilla, Robert Lee,[10] Joseph Whitfield,[11] Living, and Living.[12]

He married Edith Iona Crowther, daughter of Curtis Claude Crowther and Martha Salome Barbour, on 13 Ot 1945 in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania.[17][18] He was 25 years old. They had 2 children together.[19]

Tiny passed away in 2004 at the age of 83.[1][5][12] He died from a heart attack after being involved in an auto collision.[21]
