Research Notes

  • The Ivey family in the United States page 78 is written:

"OTHER VIRGINIA FAMILIES Adam Ivey, who lived in three counties of Virginia, died, 1792 Married Mary Peebles, 1747 Children Jessie, 1749 Ephiram, 1751 Peebles. 1753 Aaron, 1756 Timothy, 1757 Millie... .... Ephiram Ivey, son of Adam and Mary Ivey Served seven years in the Revolutionary War in Virginia..."

That would put the marriage date at 1747. the way the page reads and the way it was trancscribed is unusual, as the page was written in columns. I am rewriting it here to make sense of it, and leave notes for others to follow if needed SSC

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:

I have DNA compared all the Gedmatch on this page currently, Rex Barret RG4030959, Peggy Brown RH9557813, Karen Ivey Herndon XZ6250307 We all share DNA I just can not tell you where at this point. If this connection is good more records just need to be found. I did add what records I could find today, or notes on those records. I added research notes to the page. I am sure the original source is the book: The Ivey family in the United States that can be found if you are signed into https://www.familysearch.org/ the whole book is there. It is not fully downloadable. It is written in columns and must be viewed.

The information noted in the research notes that her child's name is Peebles is erroneous. Peebles couldn't possibly the child of this Adam and Mary, the date timelines does not match and the location does not match. Peebles was born in Virginia and I don't think he ever lived in North Carolina.

Ivey-122 and Peebles-1492 appear to represent the same person because: Peebles is the LNAB family researchers accept as a "theory" of her surname.
