Obituary

Joe Harvey Ivey Jr., 81, of West Peoria, IL, passed away at 9:26 am on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Methodist Medical Center of Peoria.

JH was born on April 15, 1928 in Cheneyville, LA, to Joe H. and Josephine (Monk) Ivey Sr. He married Gladys Kessler on March 18, 1982 in Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joe H. Ivey III, three brothers, Willie, Paul and Charles Ivey and one sister Peggy Ann Hillman.

Surviving is his wife, Gladys Ivey of West Peoria, three sons, H.M. "Peanut" Ivey of Gardner, LA, Robert Glen (Cindy) Ivey of Creve Coeur, IL and Brad (Jada) Mosburg of Peoria, two daughters, Sarah Ann Ivey of Flatwoods, LA and Martie (Jamie) Rose of Peoria. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, five sisters, Laverne Estes, Louise (John) Hickman, Myrtle Lee Chandler, Linda Gail (Lester) Duthile and Sue (Mike) Mason, one brother, Don (Yvonne) Ivey and many nieces and nephews.

Joe worked as a Steamfitter of the Steamfitters Union Local 353 where he was a member and retired in 1993. He also worked as a Plumber for many years in the Danville area. He was a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Peoria and attended Sieper Community Church in Sieper, LA. Joe loved fishing and was a member of the Fin and Feather Club in Fairview, IL and he enjoyed square dancing in the Peoria area.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria, with a service on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 10:00 am at Landmark Missionary Church in Peoria. Pastors Andy Decker and Danny George will officiate. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements and burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
