Biography

When Elias Ivey was born in 1788 in Bladen County, North Carolina, his father, Francis, was 55. He had five sons and five daughters with Temperance Britt between 1810 and 1836. He died on December 8, 1858, in Robeson County, North Carolina, at the age of 70, and was buried in Orrum, North Carolina. Per the estate papers of Elias Ivey, he was survived by the following children:

Fayetteville Observer December 23, 1858

DIED, At his residence in Robeson County, N. C., on the 8th December, 1858, ELIAS IVEY, aged 74 years. The deceased was a consistent member of the Baptist Church for upwards of 50 years, and for about 20 years he was a Deacon of the Church at Mount Eliam. His character for honesty, strict morality, and Christian like deportment endeared him to all with whom he was acquainted. If he had an enemy in the world it is unknown to us.
