Research Notes

Disputed Spouse

A prior version of this profile claimed, without source, that this Mary Ivey, daughter of Adam Ivey, was the same person as the Ann Ivey who married James Moore. This disputed spouse has been detached from that profile, pending identification of a reliable source which supports the claim.

Ivey-1125 and Ivey-866 do not represent the same person because: The woman who married James Moore was Ann (or Anna) Ivey, but there is no source identifying her parents cited in either profile. The profile for Adam Ivey (Ivey-115) cites his will, which suggests he had a daughter named Mary, supporting the existence of Mary (Ivey-866) as the daughter of that Adam. However, there is no source cited for the claim that Mary Ivey, the daughter of Adam is the same person as Ann Ivey, who married James Moore.

Ivey-1125 and Ivey-866 appear to represent the same person because: Both women are named a variation of Ann Ivey and are said to have married James Moore in 1752. Birth and death dates do not match, but neither profile has reliable sources for the birth or death dates cited, so those differences should be resolved based on reliable sources after the merge. These two profiles are both intended to represent the Ann or Mary Ann Ivey who married James Moore in 1752. Please merge.

Never mind, I am going to delete this merge proposal. The woman who married James Moore was Ann (or Anna) Ivey. There is no source identifying her parents cited in either profile. The profile for Adam Ivey cites his will, which suggests he had a daughter named Mary. There is no source cited for the claim that Mary Ivey, the daughter of Adam is the same person as Ann Ivey, who married James Moore, so I plan to detach Ivey-866 has James Moore's spouse. If anyone can identify a source for the claim that they are the same person, please weigh in.

Ivey-1125 and Ivey-866 do not represent the same person because: Dates are drastically different. Father is different.
Ivey-1125 and Ivey-866 appear to represent the same person because: The names and marriage are the same, the dates approximate
