Biography

Allen was the son of Joseph Allen Smith Sr and Georgina Izard. He married under the surname Smith, but adopted his mother's family name at some point after and was known as Allen S Izard by the time of the 1860 U S Federal Census. He and Emma had no children.

Joseph was born in 1810. He passed away in 1879.

Izard-234 and Smith-257669 appear to represent the same person because: All relevant information the same, but I could find no support for the surname Manigault being adopted by Joseph Allen Smith Izard. Since Smith was his surname at birth and at the time of his marriage, I propose that he be listed as a Smith. The change to Izard later in life complicates matters.
