Biography

John Jack was born in 1797 in West Linton, Peeblesshire, Scotland. His parents were Adam Jack and Margaret Wilson. He had a sister Lilly born on 6th March 1799.

He married 1) Elizabeth Morrison on 16 March 1819 at Saint Cuthberts Church in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. [1] Together they became the parents o f Adam Jack, Margaret Jack, Jessie M. Jack, William M. Jack, Elizabeth Jack, and John Ebenezer Jack.

John is described in historic documents as a "dissenting minister" [2]and an "independent minister", which means he was not affiliated with eithor the Church of England or the Catholic Church.

He married 2) Mary Ann Newton in 1857.[3]

John died on 5 Dec 1863 in Devon, England. [2]

He is buried in Arno's Vale Cemetery, Bristol, Somerset, England.

In 1891 his daughter wrote a brief biography of her father [4]
