Nicholas Jaco was issued a Certificate of Competency as Mast of a Home Trade Passenger Ship on 16 January 1892, at the time he was living in Fern House, Newlyn, Penzance with his family.[14]
Nicholas died at the age of 70, as a retired master mariner, while residing at 3 Bon Villas Newlyn Paul, Cornwall on 22 March 1915.[15][16]
