Biography

Harvey Clifton Jacka was born on 23 Sep 1855 in Riwaka, New Zealand to Thomas Jacka and Thomasin Vigurs (Harvey) Jacka.

Harvey Clifton Jacka married Agnes Croucher in 1884.^[1][2]

Harvey and his wife were in England in 1912, and returned to New Zealand via Australia:

• Harvey Jacker [Jacka] (56) and his wife Agnes (49) sailed aboard the ship Gneisenau, which departed from Southampton, England on 25 Nov 1912, bound for Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.^[3]

Harvey Clifton Nelson, aged 72 years, passed away on 28 Nov 1927 in the City of Nelson, New Zealand.^[4][5] A death notice was published in the Nelson Evening Mail on 29 Nov 1927:^[6]

• "JACKA.--At Nelson, suddenly, on the 28th November, 1927, Harvey Clifton, dearly beloved husband of Agnes Jacka, in his 73rd year.--At rest."

He is buried at Wakapuaka Cemetery in Nelson.^[7]

Harvey Clifton Jacka of Stoke in Nelson, New Zealand, a gentleman, had signed his last Will and Testament on 27 Apr 1921. He left everything to his wife Agnes Jacka, but in the event of her predeceasing him he left everything in equal shares to four other relatives: his sister Ada Fry (wife of Frank Fry the elder of Riwaka), his half-sister Eliza Henrietta Fry (wife of Richard Fry of Riwaka), his half-brother Clement Harvey Banfield (of Christchurch), and his wife's sister Clara Tutbury (wife of Thomas Tutbury). His wife submitted an Affidavit on 2 Dec 1927, affirming that he had passed away in Nelson on 28 Nov 1927, and was granted probate of his estate on 7 Dec 1927.^[8]
