John was born in June 1841, he was only one day old on the day the data was recorded which should have been done on the 6 June 1841 if the census enumerator was running to schedule.[1][2] He is thought to be the son of Michael Jacka and Ann Jenkin, although no birth or baptism record has been found to confirm this.

Research Notes
Listed as John Crippin, living with her mother, siblings and stepfather in Darlington, Canada West in 1852.[11] John accompanied his mother and stepfather when they moved to Stratford in Perth county. And he was still at home in the 1861 census, now listed correctly as John Jacka.[12]
