Biography

Nathaniel Jacka was born at Geelong in 1861. [1]

In 1885 in Victoria he married Elizabeth Kettle. [2] The registry shows his birth place as Geelong.

Seven children are found in the Victorian BDM registry (Reg No./Year):-

Fanny (30526/1887-1980) m. Isaiah Spearman OLIVE in 1911
Elsie (15386/1891-1977) m. Alfred Ernest Saunders in 1918
Albert (6114/1893-1932)
Sidney Ernest (31638/1894-1950)
William (13179/1897-1978)
Bessie (28601/1899-1982) m. Harold Stanley DOWRICK in 1926.

Nathaniel Jacka [3] mentioned in Political attitudes to conscription: 1914–1918 "[74]"

His wife Elizabeth died in 1940 at Caulfield, aged 76 [76y 3m 29d]. [4]

JACKA.—On March 28, at his daughter's residence, Bank of Australasia, 420 Sydney road, Coburg, Nathaniel, dearly loved husband of the late Elizabeth, loving father of Samuel (deceased), Fanny (Mrs. Olive), Elsie (Mrs. Saunders), Albert, V.C. (A.I.F., deceased), Sydney (A.I.F.), William (A.I.F.), and Bessie (Mrs. Dowrick), aged 82 years. —A wonderful father at rest. [6]

His remains are interred in the St. Kilda Cemetery, Anglican Section B, with his wife. [7][8]
