Biography

Samuel was baptised on 15 April 1838 in Perranzabuloe, Cornwall, the son of Elias Jacka and Eliza Tresise.[1] [2]

OCCUPATION: Farmer.

CENSUS INFORMATION: In the 1841 UK Census of Perranzabuloe, he is listed as SAMUEL JACKA, aged 3, and born in county. He is living at Rose with his parents and four siblings. (HO 107/150, Folio 11, Page 90).
In the 1850 US Census, he is listed as Samuel Jaco, aged 12 and born in England. Together with his sister Maria, he is living with his aunt, Catherine James, and her family, in Mineral Point, Iowa county, Wisconsin.
In the 1860 US Census, he is listed as Samuel Jacka, a farmer aged 22 and born in England. He is living in the town of Mineral Point with his wife and a daughter (Mary). (Page 149).
In the 1870 US Census, he is listed as Samuel Jacka, aged 42 and born in England. He is living in the town of Mineral Point, with his wife, 3 sons and 2 daughters. (Page 26).

MIGRATION: From History of Iowa County: Samuel JACKO. farmer Sec 8; P.O.Mineral Point; Owns 120½ acres of land, valued at $25 per acre; born in England in 1838, he came to America in 1846, and located at Mineral Point;

MARRIAGES: He married twice: .(1) Sarah OLNEY m. (2) Maria PRIESTLY.

He married Sarah Olney in 1858, and they had five children - Lucy, Mary, Elias, Samuel H, and Eliza M. Mrs Jacko died in 1871. In 1876 Mr Jacko married again to Maria Priestly; he had two children by his second marriage - Nellie F and Elias J.
