After Charles married Hannah he moved to Saltash where his first five children were baptised. From Saltash, he moved to Penzance between 1773 & 1766 where he eventually passed away before being buried in his original parish of St Buryan. during his lifetime he worked as a schoolmaster.
Charles died in December 1804 in Penzance and was buried in St Buryan, Cornwall, England.[3][4][5]
Research Notes
Charles along with his parents are all mentioned in a Will written by his mother, Mary's paternal uncle Martin Hutchens, his grandfather's youngest brother.[6] The Will mentions many people including the following people who all appear to be related which helps to confirm family relationships:
Margarett Hutchens the daughter of his brother, William Hutchens and his brother's youngest daughter. [I have only seen the transcription not the original but I have seen others comment that the name is Mary rather than Margaret]
Jane Tippett the wife of Thomas Tippett of the Said Parish of St Buryan, possibly the daughter of Anna Hutchings sister of Martin Hutchens who married William James in 1702 and together they had a daughter Jane who married Thomas Tippett.
my Kinsman Francis Hutchens of the said Parish of Paull is also mentioned and is possibly Martin's brother.
William Hutchens the Son of the said William Hutchens of Boscarne [not yet identified but obviously related in some way]
Charles' Will: Charles, a schoolmaster residing in Penzance, wrote a Will in 17 October 1802 and was probated on 22 May 1805.[7] The Will mentions several relations which help to confirm the following relationships:
Several of his children are not mentioned in his Will
Francis Hutchins Jacka died before the Will was written, interestingly his widow & only son are not mentioned in the Will.
Charles Jacka (the eldest one) died in 1766 before the Will was written
Hannah Jacka (the eldest one) died in 1766 before the Will was written
Hannah Jacka (the youngest one) died in 1790 before the Will was written
It has been assumed that if a daughter was listed in the Will with her maiden name then it is most likely that she was not married at the time the Will was written in 1802.Williamson-862 23:41, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
Possible duplication of baptismal record: There are 6 months between Charles's older brother's baptism on the15 July 1730 and his baptism on 15 January 1731. This could mean that the elder Charles doesn't belong to this family or that this Charles was born very premature or that the older Charles could have been baptised at 3 months of age. Whatever the explanation it would seem that this Charles belongs with this family until further evidence to the contrary.
